A : The baldness mentioned could be an Alopecia Aerate condition, whereby the body's immune system acts as if the hair follicles are 'foreigners', leading to white blood cells attacking them. It causes the hair to stop growing and enter into the deluge (resting) phase.

Alopecia Aerate initially develops as a mild patchy hair loss about an inch across on the scalp; a number of patches in an area of the scalp develop and eventually join up to form larger patches. This problem can be caused by viral infections, vaccinations, trauma to the skin or even stress.

Q : Where does the hair come from?

A : All Great Lengths hair originates from India. Because of its same genetic origin the basic structure of Indian hair is similar to that of European hair. Indian women traditionally cut off their long plait of hair either at their wedding -as a symbol of starting their new life- or if they want to ask a special favor or offer thanks to a deity at a religious temple. This collection method allows numerous benefits: The cuticle layer of the hair is perfectly healthy and intact since Indian hair is of exceptional quality and Indian woman rarely visit hair salons for chemical treatments of any kind.

Q : What causes hair loss?

A : The most common cause of hair loss is heredity. Men and women inherit the gene for hair loss from either or both parents. The age of onset, extent, and rate of hair loss vary from person to person. Men and women exhibit hereditary hair loss differently. Severe illness, medications, malnutrition, or vitamin deficiency can accelerate this process. When applied incorrectly, permanent hair color and chemical relaxers damage the hair and follicle to the extent that hair loss can be permanent. Causes of hair loss do not include wearing a hat, excessive shampooing, lack of blood flow, or clogged pores.
